We are in our Autumn half term in the UK now, and I like to fill up a good portion of the week with activities, otherwise I might just lose my mind with the constant sound of ‘i’m bored’ ringing in my ears.
So what do you do when you want to be a ‘Pinterest mum’, but are a little more of a ‘go and play by yourself, quietly’ kind of mum?
These 3 plan ahead, cheap & easy Halloween themed crafts/activities that’s what.
1. Chocolate covered apple slices ( well they never eat the whole apple do they?)
You will need –
- Apples
- Lolly sticks
- Chocolate ( 100g) we used milk but any will do
- Coconut oil
- Sprinkles/nuts/coconut
Method –
Melt the chocolate with the coconut oil, meanwhile slice the apples, put lolly sticks into the apple slices, when choc is melted, dip in the apple lollies. Place onto parchment paper and sprinkle on the toppings, refrigerate until set, then enjoy.
2. Stained glass pictures
You will need –
- Card
- tissue paper
- glue
- scissors
Method –
All I did for this was, cut out some (very) basic window and graveyard shapes, and instructed L to tear or cut some tissue paper into rough shapes, glue the back and stick the paper to the glued surface, she then just got on with it, she was amazed when I stuck it to the glass door and the light shone through. She even went on to make her own from scratch with no help at all. #winning

L’s own attempt ( so stinking cute )
3. Cotton but Skeletons.
You will need –
- Cotton buds
- Card
- Glue ( we used a glue stick )
- Paper
- Scissors
- Pen
What to do –
Well very little actually, I told L that she would need to cut out a skeletons head, and the make its bones with the cotton buds.
At first she made a stick-man style skeleton ( so cute ), but then I showed her a photo of a real one and she went on to try to copy that, even cutting the cotton buds to size.
*please not that the hand drawn pic between the legs, is in-fact a pelvis!
I hope these are useful to you and your little monsters over the holiday.
